Retail Assistant – Full Time

Martell’s are looking to recruit a permanent, full time Retail Assistant to be based at our new East Grinstead store. Our first-class customer service is renowned and we are looking for a team member who can uphold our standards. 

Our store opening times are 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.  The job requires you to be flexible and able to work 5 days a week which will include weekend work.

You need to have strong IT skills, especially Word, Excel and Sage.  Experience with Adobe Photoshop or Coral Draw and administration experience is desirable.

This is a physically demanding position which will be varied, working in all the different areas of the store.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Processing the paperwork for goods sold in our furniture departments
  • being responsible for processing cash and card payments
  • replenishment and merchandising
  • assisting shoppers to find the goods and products they are looking for
  • involvement in stock control and management
  • keeping the store tidy and clean.

Retail Apprenticeship - Full Time
(Studying Customer Services Level 2)

Retail is a really exciting industry to work in, where you can realistically climb the career ladder. You will work in our new East Grinstead store as you learn new skills and study towards gaining your level 2 Customer Services Apprenticeship.

Our store opening times are 9am until 5.30pm Monday to Saturday and 10am until 4pm on Sunday.  The job requires you to be flexible and able to work 5 days a week which will include weekend work

If you are the successful candidate for this vacancy, you will be expected to provide exceptional customer service.

Some of your duties may include:

  • Assisting shoppers to find the goods and products they are looking for
  • greeting customers who enter the shop
  • involvement in stock control and management
  • keeping up to date with promotions
  • being responsible for processing cash and card payments
  • reporting discrepancies and problems to the supervisor
  • replenishment and merchandising
  • dealing with customer refunds
  • keeping the store tidy and clean.

Apprentice Warehouse Operative & Removals Porter

Martell’s are looking to recruit an Apprentice Warehouse Operative & Removals Porter to be based at our East Grinstead yard. The position is 32 hours a week to be worked over 4 days between Monday to Friday according to the needs of the business.

Your working day will normally start at 7.45am and end at 4.45pm, although this can vary depending on the needs of our customers.

Working within our Removals Department you will be learning different aspects of the industry, with the key element of your apprenticeship being warehouse operations. It is a varied role where no two days are the same.

To be successful you need to be happy to take on different challenges and responsibilities as part of a team, while ensuring you follow the regulations which allow you, your colleagues and our customers to be safe.

Rate of pay is competitive within the industry and will be discussed at interview.

Removals Porter

Martell’s are looking to recruit a Removals Porter to be based at our East Grinstead yard. We are renowned for our high standards of service and as a Removals Porter you will be taking on a key role to uphold these.

Your working day will normally start at 7.45am and end at 4.45pm, although this can vary depending on the needs of our customers.

Working as part of a team, one of your main duties will be at our customer’s premises to pack and move furniture and other effects carefully on and off of removals vehicles. Some jobs involve long distance and European moves which require staying away from home.

If you are able to deliver a high level of customer service and have a team orientated approach to work, we would like to hear from you.

This is a permanent position, the number of days you are contracted to is negotiable at interview.

Rate of pay is competitive within the industry and will be discussed at interview.
